Are you looking for a creative project a fun, easy and fast enough? Tie dying is a great activity for the whole family! The beauty of the tie-dye is that you can not really mess up and everyone can do it. Here are the things you should know before you begin:
- Fabric paint. It can be dyed shirts, bandanas, shorts, socks, underwear ... what they want, as long as the substance is 100% cotton, rayon, or other natural fibers, otherwise the dye will not stick. Economic cotton shirts are perfect for beginners. You must first wash is completed on the canvas that may interfere with the process of dying to remove.
- Color dye for cloth. The three primary colors are pink tie-dye, yellow and turquoise. Other colors can be obtained by mixing two or three of them together for example orange, magenta and yellow. You can special delivery, but if this is the first time to die, I suggest tie dye kit. You can at most craft stores and supplies online. I Dye Tulip kit used for birthday parties and a beautiful snare. My choice was, however, is the dye Procion MX dyes. You can use the kit online retailers such as Dharma Trading Company. I do not recommend using RIT dye. I find them very messy and the colors run and fade quickly.
- Sodium carbonate, t-shirts a few weeks in advance kit included. If not, you can of soda (also known as sodium carbonate) to find in any store that sells pool supplies. Presented in powder form and can say 'Ph Increaser "on the bottle.
- A bucket for the shirt in a bucket to catch the Old cat litter works great!
- String or rubber band to bind the substance.
- Rubber gloves are a necessity when working with paint, otherwise you will end up finishing with multi-color hand for the day. You can use latex gloves latex gloves thin or thick, it's up to you.
- Plastic bag or cover to protect your table.
- Injection of plastic bottles to contain dyes, one for each color (usually in the kit).
- Plastic bags or plastic film for the dust to settle after death.
- Mask or cloth to cover his face during the mixing powdered dyes.
- Synthrapol an optional detergent ingredients can be used to wash after dyed.
How tyedye :
To begin with, soda head to the bucket slowly mixed in one liter of hot water. (If you have a lot of substance, add two cups of soda and one gallon of water). After washing soda is dissolved, to enjoy the substance in the bucket and saturate. Do not overfill the bucket. Make a canvas large enough to absorb all the water. You may need some 'mixing around and get out air bubbles. Let it soak for 15-30 minutes, then squeeze the water as possible, allowing water to soda to return to work in a bucket for reuse. You can go from rags in the washing machine (spin only, not far from the rinsing or washing soda) or hang for a while if you prefer a damp cloth. Water company's actions as "hold" so that your shirt is wet, less dye is absorbed. U drying fabric is completely dry, but it is often difficult for the dye to be applied.
While soaking shirt, is a good time to mix the dye according to instructions. Make sure you use a mask when working with powder. Other tips ... dyes break down fairly quickly, so you'll want to mix right before you are ready to apply the dye.
Now the shirt is pre-impregnated and dye are mixed, let the fun begin! Take a towel and lay it flat on your board protected. There are an infinite number of tie-dye patterns and techniques that can be used to bind the dust. You can crumple and or tie together to stretch, you can fold in an accordion fold and tie, you can create a variety of cotton shirts and turn around and go in the spiral, remove the fork and a rubber band. Once you decide what design to go with tie dye, organizing the material and tie it fairly tightly with string or rubber bands. If you choose the turbulence, with a stretch of 2-3 remains uneven, and let them criss-cross in the center circle for a small piece of cake. This makes the application of the dye lot easier. Let your imagination! There is no right or wrong in the tie-dye. The key is to bend or fold a shirt and tie and shake it safe with a band-string or rubber band to not fall apart. Tight folds, the more chances you have to leave some white matter.
After application of a substance is the time for dye to be added. Choose the color you want to start and applied to the bound part of the shirt. If you make a model of turbulence, wedge-color (color copy is fine). In technical tie-dye to choose, if you dye, dye spraying just about half way through the fabric to be applied. Occasionally lift and control the work piece from the bottom. If you paint bleed through, you have to move to other regions / colors. Once you finish painting the top, change the color of cotton and the other side. Try to change the color on one side, or do not match ... Tie Dye is your model. Again, there are over saturated cloth or you will end up with a swamp. Do not worry if your colors are superimposed, in fact I would rather like it. This will be a new color.
After application of the dye, take the plastic wrap or plastic bag, wrap your fabric and put it in a warm place for at least 24 hours. This is what we call the 'dose'. Woven fabric will spend 24 hours to react with the dye and white canvas into a masterpiece of tie dye.
After 24 hours long and it's time to rinse the cloth and not sticky. Wash in cold water until most of the excess dye off. I partially fill my sink and shake a few minutes, then drain the water and repeat until most of the dye out. (Note that turquoise gets rolls a bit more.) If the water is almost clear, put a cloth in the washing machine and wash in hot water (if more than one piece can be washed together). Set the machine to a second cycle if your machine allows. I prefer to wash your tie dye shirt Synthrapol but it's your choice. If you have a kit from Dharma or the like is included.
After washing, you can use the dryer and hang dry and ready! Enjoy your new tie dye!
